a Poem by Raquel Swann

You’re stuck in a maze

wandering for hours

Directions seem the same,

locations familiar.

You meet a stranger

along the way.

They offer you an easy

way out, an exit.

The treacherous road

behind you left scars,

bumps, bruises.

You may leave now,

but forsake yourself

in the process.

Who are you, really?

Are you the person

who solves the mystery

or the one who

desperately seeks

the exit no matter

the cost?

I watch as you follow

the pointed finger

losing yourself
