This Cruel World

a Poem by Raquel Swann

This cruel world takes

no mercy on the likes

of you.

It pushes and shoves

as a bully would in

a school yard.

Pounding fists and

scratching claws will

never stop.

How much fight remains

within your soul,

my friend.

As battles wage you

must remain vigilant,

my friend.

For rainbows and blue skies

are not so easy to

come by.
